What is Qatar Doing for FIFA 2022?

The World Cup is the biggest sporting event in the world, and Qatar is taking every measure to ensure the success of the event. The country is already preparing for the FIFA World Cup 2022, which will take place in November/December. The upcoming World Cup will have many benefits for Qatar, including more foreign tourists. But what is Qatar doing in preparation for the event? We asked a local lawyer and FIFA official to find out.

The first step in Qatar's preparations for the World Cup is the Arab Cup, which will feature 16 teams from the region. Two of the World Cup venues are scheduled to be inaugurated on the opening day of the competition. The tournament is expected to be the most attended World Championship in history, and the Qatar organizing committee will have little to celebrate once the trophy is lifted. The Arab Cup is also an opportunity for the committee of the Qatar 2022 to test the stadiums and get feedback from the public.

After winning the bid, Qatar has announced plans to invest US$100 billion to build stadiums, hotels, and roads. However, the country has been under fire for the mistreatment of migrant workers. Some major issues include the exploitative "kafala" sponsorship system, restrictions on freedom of association, and hazardous working conditions. If you want to make a difference, you should get involved in the process!

The world-class transport system that was introduced during the FIFA Club World Cup last December is now being expanded to handle more people than ever before. By the end of 2022, the Qatar Sports Committee is aiming to host 50 million visitors a year. In preparations, the World Cup will be hosted by FIFA and the WHO will help translate best practices from the World Cup into the local language. There will be no shortage of business opportunities in Qatar in the years ahead.

As of the time of writing, FIFA has announced the dates of the World Cup 2022. The event will take place in November and December of 2022, which is the same as the Asian and South American continents'. According to the World Cup website, the event will feature four matches in the country. The final will be held on Dec. 18, with the trophy hoisted on Sunday. There are currently 13 qualified teams for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, but there are still 19 spots to fill.

The World Cup bid process has lasted longer than the World Cup itself. In January, ten countries bid for the FIFA World Cup, including Mexico, and Indonesia, but it was later withdrew after losing to Mexico. The Indonesian bid was rejected in February 2010. In Indonesia's unsuccessful bid, the government guarantee for the bid was not submitted. But officials had not ruled out a bid for the 2026 World Championship. The final decision came in March.
